Crew Visas

CREW VISAS (D)

Airline crew performing duties related to the operation of aircraft on international flights to and from the US, and members of a ship or other vessel that will call at a US port, may qualify for a D visa for crew members. If you are transiting the US to join a boat or other vessel that will be stopping at a US port, you may apply for a C-1 transit visa.  To facilitate entry of crew members into the US, the American Institute in Taiwan often issues a C-1 and D visa concurrently for the same fee.  In this case, please fill out one visa application and pay the visa application processing fee and APC service fee.  In addition, AIT may sometimes issue a courtesy B-1/B-2 business/tourist visa to crewmembers for no extra charge.

Applying For A Visa:

  1. Please follow the steps listed on the “How to apply” page to submit your application and prepare the required documents.
  2. Please bring a letter of employment from your company.
  3. Please present evidence of sufficient funds to cover all expenses while in the US.
  4. Please present evidence to show that you have a residence abroad to which you intend to return at the end of the stay in the US.  This is generally established by evidence of family, professional, property, employment or other ties and commitments to some country other than the US sufficient to cause you to return there at the conclusion of your stay.
