Eric H. Madison, a native of Washington D.C., was Economic Counselor and sometimes Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2009. From 2005-2008, he served as Deputy Counselor in the Economic Section at our Embassy in Beijing, China. In 1992-1995, he served as the deputy chief in the Economic Section at the American Institute in Taiwan in Taipei, Taiwan, after two years of Chinese language training.

As of year 2010, Eric had three tours in the Department of State’s Bureau of Economic, Energy and Business Affairs from 1999-2005 covering aviation negotiations, public diplomacy, and Iraq reconstruction. Eric has also served overseas in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Khartoum, Sudan; Tunis, Tunisia; Bonn, Germany in the Economic Section and also on a Fellowship of Hope. He was the Sudan Desk Officer from 1982-1984.

A Washington, D.C. native, Eric Madison is a French literature graduate from Dartmouth College. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Constance in Germany where he earned a diploma in German literature. He speaks Mandarin Chinese. He has three children.
