Applicants not requiring a personal appearance at AIT

The following types of applicants may apply for a visa without making a personal appearance at AIT Taipei.  However, such applicants may still be required to appear for an interview when required by a consular officer.  Applicants not meeting these criteria are required to make an appointment and appear for an interview. No exceptions will be made to these requirements.

• Applicants 13 years old and younger (applicants who have not reached their 14th birthday):  Personal appearance of applicant is not required.  However, an interview appointment is required and a parent or legal guardian must appear for an interview on behalf of the applicant.  Children applying for an F-1 visa to study in the United States must still make a personal appearance and be interviewed.

• Applicants over the age of 80 (applicants who have reached their 80th birthday):  Personal appearance or appointment is not required.  Applicant or a representative must bring all the required documents to Nonimmigrant Visa Unit, Window One, between 1:00 and 3:00 pm on any working day.
