Appointment system
How far in advance should I make an online appointment for services at AIT Taipei's American Citizen Services Unit? We recommend that you make your appointment at least two weeks in advance. AIT is closed to the public the first business day of each month and all U.S. and Taiwan holidays. We answer questions without an appointment between 3:00-3:30 p.m. on days that we are open to the public. We cannot accept applications for services during this time. Why does AIT require American citizens to make appointments for services? We answer questions without an appointment between 3:00-3:30 p.m. on days that we are open to the public. We cannot accept applications for services during this time. The previous unscheduled application process for passport, notarial and social security services often required several visits to AIT, and waiting times in excess of one hour. Due to limited space in our waiting room, on busy days it was usually standing room only. By contrast, the new scheduling system requires only one trip to AIT for prepared applicants, less time in the waiting room, no more long lines, and you will receive your new passport faster.
