Traders and Treaty Investors (E-1/E-2)
When the requirements are met and The Immigration and Nationality Act provides nonimmigrant visa status for the national of a country with which the United States maintains a treaty of commerce and navigation who is coming to the United States to carry on substantial trade, including trade in services or technology, principally between the United States and the treaty country, or to develop and direct the operations of an enterprise in which the national has invested, or is in the process of investing a substantial amount of capital. Treaty traders and treaty investors must meet strict qualifications concerning their country of nationality, and the nationality of their firm, the size, type and direction of their trade, as well as their position within the company. Such applicants frequently contact an immigration lawyer to assist them through the E visa process.
