2022 GCTF Workshop on Smart Agriculture

On September 27, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association (JTEA), the Australian Office Taipei, the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (ISECO), the Netherlands Office Taipei (NLOT) co-hosted a hybrid in-person/online GCTF workshop entitled “Challenges and Strategies for the Industrialization of Smart Agriculture.”

This GCTF was organized by the Taiwan-based Food and Fertilizer Technology Center for the Asian and Pacific Regions (FFTC) and showcases opportunities to improve agricultural production through innovative technology.  The hybrid event is being held in-person at the Evergreen International Convention Center in Taipei on September 27-28.

AIT Deputy Director Jeremy Cornforth joined ISECO Representative Omer Caspi, NLOT Representative Guido Tielman, and FFTC Director Dr. Chang Su-san in providing opening remarks.

In his opening remarks, AIT Deputy Director Cornforth noted “The need to increase our food supplies while also becoming more efficient, sustainable, and resilient in the face of a changing climate is a shared challenge we all face.  We must work with our partners from all corners of the world, much like we are doing today, to share data, information, and strategies that we can all adopt in our agricultural practices.”

AIT, Taiwan’s MOFA, JTEA, and the Australian Office Taipei jointly administer the GCTF, which serves as a platform for Taiwan to share its expertise with partners around the world.
