Ms. Oudkirk became the Director of the American Institute in Taiwan in July 2021. She has been in the United States Foreign Service for 30 years and is delighted to return to Taiwan, which was also her first overseas posting, as the first woman to serve as AIT Director.
Jeremy Cornforth is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. He assumed the position of Deputy Director of the American Institute in Taiwan in July 2021 after serving as Chief of the Consular Section at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, China.
Public Diplomacy Section Chief
Diane Sovereign is currently chief of Public Diplomacy Section at the AIT. She joined the United States Department of State in 2002, and has served as a diplomat in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Prior positions include: USNATO in Brussels as a Political Officer; in Mosul, Iraq as the Public Affairs Officer.
Commercial Section Chief
Brent Omdahl currently serves as the Commercial Section Chief of the American Institute in Taiwan, where he manages a team of 20 marketing and customer service professionals. His team’s primary roles are to promote cooperation between U.S. firms, Taiwan companies and the Taiwan authorities.
N. Rashad Jones
Economic Section Chief
N. Rashad Jones currently serves as Economic Section Chief at the American Institute in Taiwan during July 2022. Throughout his career, Rashad has primarily worked on Asia and Latin American issues.
Political Section Chief
Richard Jao is the Political Chief at AIT. He previously served as the Political External Unit Chief at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, which covered U.S.-China relations and Chinese foreign policy, particularly its relations with North Korea.
AIT Kaohsiung Branch Chief
Thomas Wong assumed the position of Branch Chief of the American Institute in Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Branch Office in August 2022. Since joining the Foreign Service in 2010, he has served at AIT, twice in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs in Washington, DC, and at the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara, Mexico.
