American Innovation Center Partners with Songshan Cultural and Creative Park
for Grand Re-Opening on September 23
To celebrate the sixth anniversary and re-opening of the American Innovation Center (AIC), the American Institute in Taiwan, in cooperation with the Taipei City Government, will host the AIC Housewarming Opening ceremony on September 23, 2020. AIT Deputy Director Raymond Greene, Dr. Tsai Ping-Kun, Deputy Mayor of Taipei City, Audrey Tang, Minister without Portfolio will deliver remarks for the opening ceremony. This opening ceremony not only marks a new phase of redesign of AIC, but also highlights the new space relocation to the 2nd floor of Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.
On the afternoon of September 23, the AIC will also host the “Post Covid-19’s Cross-disciplinary Innovation Forum: Design for a Better World” at Taipei New Horizon. The innovation forum is using “Cross-sector x innovation,” “Experience x Service,” and “AI x Design” as its main themes. Speakers from Taiwan and abroad include Adam Cutler, Distinguished Designer, IBM; Shikuan Chen, Vice President, Corporate Experience Design, Compal Electronics Inc; Dr. Sheng-Ying Pao, CEO of Tsinghua University Entrepreneurship Garage. Together these experts will share their insights about of possible innovation breakthrough models and cross-disciplinary innovation trends after Covid-19. This forum is expected to attract more than 250 participants to join.
The AIC, jointly established by the American Institute in Taiwan and its local hosting partner, is the first of its kind in Asia. The AIC promotes digital learning and distributes the latest information about innovation, as well as shares current U.S. trends in science, environment, and technology. Over the past six years, more than 133,000 people attended over 520 courses related to innovation, entrepreneurship, digitalization, culture and design and more than 500,000 visitors have joined AIC’s innovation forum, exhibition and outreach programs. AIC will provide programs about innovation, AI, digital transformation, VR/AR, service design in the future to continue inspire the future leaders in this digital transformation era.
In addition, the AIT American Center will officially start operations from October 5, 2020. This center provides an extensive open-stack collection of current materials about the United States. Most of the materials in the collection cover U.S. society and culture, history, arts and literature, economics, education, government and politics.
