The Commercial Section of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) will partner with U.S. footwear company Skechers to promote breast cancer awareness. Squares Marketing Corporation, the Taiwan distributor of Skechers, will launch the new “pink ribbon” Shape-Ups fitness shoes and make a donation to the Foundation of Breast Cancer Prevention and Treatment. AIT invites members of the media to participate in this press event to be held at the AIT Commercial Section on August 27, 2010. Skechers spokesperson Cyndi Wang, a popular singer and actress, will also attend the event.
Taiwan has the second highest occurrence of breast cancer among Asian countries. In addition, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in Taiwan women and is the fourth leading cause of death. To increase breast cancer awareness, Skechers will launch limited edition pink ribbon shoes and Squares Marketing Corporation will donate five percent of its sales income from this design to Taiwan’s Foundation of Breast Cancer Prevention and Treatment. The Foundation will use this donation to organize information seminars educating Taiwan women about the disease and how preventive measures can reduce the risks associated with the disease. Moreover, Yahoo! Taiwan will support this initiative by promoting Skechers’ pink ribbon Shape-Ups on its online shopping portal.
Helen Hwang, Chief of AIT’s Commercial Section, Chairman Jeff Hsiao of Squares Marketing Corporation, Skechers spokesperson Cyndi Wang, Vice President Keith Kao of Yahoo! Shopping Mall, and Deputy Director Hao-chih Tai of the Foundation of Breast Cancer Prevention and Treatment will attend the event.
