The American Institute in Taiwan's Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) will join with key members of the U.S. agricultural industry, including the U.S. Meat Export Federation, the California Wine Institute, the American Soybean Association, Sunkist, Ocean Spray and the U.S. Dairy Export Council, to sponsor the first annual "Taste of America." The event, to be held on Thursday, September 28th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt in Taipei, will feature an array of fresh dishes made with quality U.S. ingredients, prepared in such a way as to demonstrate the culinary advantages of choosing ingredients, fresh produce and retail-ready food products from the United States.
The organizers will invite a select group of chefs and purchasing managers from Taiwan's top restaurants, hotels and food service providers to taste the dishes, "talk shop" with U.S. food product experts and enjoy an afternoon of excellent food and drink. Key reporters from Taiwan's main news services and gourmet food periodicals will also be invited to help raise awareness of quality U.S. food products among their readership.
Centered on the traditional American barbecue, "Taste of America," in addition to savory barbecued beef, chicken and natural pork, is slated to feature a full menu of items including fresh salads; roasted vegetables; wines from Oregon, California and Indiana; mixed drink creations flavored with cranberries and fresh citrus; and much, much more.
The organizers look to the "Taste of America" event as a platform to highlight the culinary range and depth of U.S. food products, both well-established and new-to-market. We hope our guests will take the opportunity to learn more about the ingredients and foods featured at the event and decide to include more high-quality U.S. food products in their kitchens and on their menus.
