JOHN DOW ASSUMES DUTIES AS AIT’S CULTURAL AFFAIRS OFFICER

 



John Dow currently serves as the Cultural Affairs Officer at the American Institute Taiwan.  John joined the U.S. Department of State in 2016 and has served as a Vice Consul in Kuwait City, Kuwait, and as Cultural Affairs Officer in Niamey, Niger where he focused on educational and leadership exchange programs, including the Fulbright Program.  Prior to joining the Foreign Service, John served as Vice President of the Press Office of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, where he led a team of ten responsible for garnering press attention for most of the Center’s 2,000 annual performances of music, theater, and dance.  He was also Associate Director of Publicity for RCA Victor in New York City working with classical, classical crossover, Broadway, jazz, blues, and New Age recording artists.  John has a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo and a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut.  He is originally from Upstate New York and speaks Chinese, French, and Arabic.
