Jonathan Hwang assumed the position of Political Section Chief for the American Institute in Taiwan – Kaohsiung Branch Office in October 2023.
At the U.S. Department of State, he has served in positions in Vietnam, Shenyang, India, and Washington D.C. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and attended graduate school in international politics at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center.
He is originally from southern California and is accompanied by his wife and two children.
