Social Security Number (SSN) for Passport Application and Renewal

To apply for or renew your U.S. passport, you must confirm the status of your Social Security Number (SSN) with the Social Security Administration (SSA) before submitting your passport application.  Contact SSA in Manila for assistance if one of the below applies to you:

  • You have an SSN but do not remember the number,
  • You are uncertain whether you have an SSN,
  • You have never applied for an SSN. You are still required to obtain a confirmation email from SSA in Manila that an SSN was never issued to you

Please do not schedule an appointment for passport renewal until you have contacted SSA in Manila to confirm whether or not you have an SSN.

Please include the personal information of the passport applicant and the following information in your inquiry to SSA Manila:

  • First name
  • Middle Name (if applicable)
  • Last name
  • Date of Birth
  • Place of Birth
  • Mother’s Full Name
  • Father’s Full Name
