On December 6, 2021, under the auspices of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO), the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) and the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) jointly launched the U.S.- Taiwan Technology Trade and Investment Collaboration (“TTIC”) to expand U.S.-Taiwan cooperation on critical supply chains by promoting two-way investment. Initial areas of focus include semiconductors, 5G, electric vehicles, sustainable energy, and cybersecurity.

On December 22, 2021, AIT and the Ministry of Economic Affairs – Bureau of Energy (MOEA – BOE) co-organized a Seminar on U.S. and Taiwan Cooperation on Battery Storage and Renewable Energy. This Seminar is one of a series of events under the Technology Trade and Investment Collaboration Framework (TTIC) with an aim to improving U.S.-Taiwan cooperation on investment and trade.
Call between Secretary Raimondo and Minister Wang
On December 2021, Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo held an introductory call with the Taiwan Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua. During the meeting, Secretary Raimondo and Minister Wang discussed the importance of the U.S.-Taiwan commercial and investment relationship and agreed to cooperate through a new Technology Trade and Investment Collaboration (TTIC) framework.
