U.S. Strategic Framework for the Indo-Pacific

The United States has a long and abiding commitment to Taiwan’s self-defense, as elaborated in the recently declassified  “United States Strategic Framework for the Indo-Pacific,” which we often describe as our vision for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific. The Framework lays out the U.S. objective “to enable Taiwan to develop an effective asymmetric defense strategy and capabilities that will help ensure its security, freedom from coercion, resilience, and ability to engage China on its own terms.” Read the full document here (PDF 923 KB)
