Location: New Taipei, Taipei, Keelung, Yilan
Event: Typhoon Khanun is currently in the ocean northeast of Taiwan. Although Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB) does not expect Typhoon Khanun to make landfall in Taiwan, the storm’s high winds and heavy rainfall still have the potential to cause serious damage. Expect heavy rainfall, high winds, dangerous storm tides, and possible flooding to occur in affected areas.
Due to Typhoon Khanun, Taipei City has told residents to stay home from work and classes and the AIT Taipei office will also be closed on August 3, 2023.

- Monitor the local news for updates.
- Seek secure shelter.
- Visit the Joint Typhoon Warning Center Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) (navy.mil) and Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB) for updated typhoon tracking information.
- Individuals with American Citizen Services appointments on this day should reschedule by visting AIT’s Website.
