The Ministry of National Defense in Taiwan has announced that its regular annual air defense exercise, Wan An No. 46, will be conducted on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 1:30-2:00 p.m. The exercise is scheduled for 30 minutes and will take place in northern Taiwan including Taipei City, New Taipei City, Yilan County, Keelung City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, and Hsinchu County.

During the 30-minute exercise, trains will operate as usual. However, passengers will not be able to exit the MRT station after they arrive on the train. Please also note that vehicular movement on Taipei streets will cease during the exercise. Movement on highways will be permitted. If you are outdoors when the alarm sounds, you will be required to take cover nearby or to pull your vehicle to the side of the road until the drill concludes. Failure to follow the instructions or directions of military or law enforcement personnel during the exercise will result in fines under Taiwan’s Civil Defense Law.

During the 30-minute exercise, the emergency notification system will be tested as well, signaling the start and end of the event.

Please plan your schedule accordingly
